Dear Parents,
The recent transition of teachers in this class delayed the rolling out of my syllabus and discipline plan. I am taking the time to bring this information to you and my students. I am excited about teaching INTENSIVE READING AND Career and Study Hall this year.
My mission is to help students increase their reading comprehension levels and to successfully pass the statewide FSA/ELA tests in the spring for underclassmen additionally the ACT/SAT exams for students that are Juniors or Seniors.

Dear Parents
Welcome to the beginning of an exciting new year at Gulf Breeze High School. With your help, I am sure that the 2017-2018 school year will be a very successful and positive year for your son/daughter.
My assignment this year is Intensive Reading. I became Reading endorsed in 2004.
I began teaching foreign languages, French and Spanish in 1975 after Graduating from the University of West Florida with a BA in French and a minor in Spanish. I lived and studied in Guadalajara Mexico and have visited France and throughout Europe. I became certified to teach Reading, Art and English as a second language (ESOL) in 2004.
I am the faculty co-sponsor of the French Honor Society and French Club and P-7. And the treasurer of “The Northwest Florida Foreign Language Association.” I look forward to having you in my class and getting to know you ! ! !

Ultimately, we must prepare our students to be problem solving, creative, productive, and responsible citizens in an ever changing world.
Honor Code-On my honor, as a Gulf Breeze High School student, I will do my own school work, uphold the ideals and rules of Gulf Breeze High School and protect the good name of my school.
I. Expected Behaviors
A. Be present and on time – seated and quiet when tardy bell rings.
B. Stay in seat until dismissed. Sharpen pencils before class please.
C. Bring learning materials to class each day. Be prepared to PARTICIPATE. No electronic devices that means NO CELL PHONES AT ALL (It will cost you 1 hall pass)
D. Respect yourself, others, and our classroom.
Use appropriate language. We are an “A” school academically. Strive to be an “A” student in all aspects of student life.
E. Only bottled water with cap is allowed in class I need to hear the cap seal “pop” as you open your water in front of me
F. Request to leave class for an emergency only. Only one student at a time
G. Stay in your seats until the bell rings. Do not stand at the doors !!!!
H. Abide by the policies set forth in the Student Handbook and the Code of Student Conduct.
II. Disciplinary Action
The following actions may be taken in any order when a classroom rule is broken:
1. Warning
2. Student/Teacher conference / comment in grade book
3. Phone call home
4. OR sent to Dean Sarah Barker or our Dean Jamie Byers
5. **** Depending on the offense, before or after school classroom chores will be assigned as detention in my room
III. Supplies:
a. Each student is expected to keep a 3-ring binder and paper
b. One Colored grading pencil or pen- PLEASE No pastel colors
c. Pen (BLACK OR BLUE) pencil to write with, no red or hot pink on work turned in for a
grade
***No late work will be given full credit. The late points will be charged based on how many days late your assignment is.
IV. Nine Week Grades Your nine week’s grade will be based on 4 categories:

***Hall passes will be issued at the beginning of each 9 wk period. Extra credit is given for unused hall passes to deserving classes who show good class behavior. Hall passes give you permission to go to the restroom or get water, THAT’S ALL!
We will use GRADELINE which is available through classlink.
